I use Amsoil Synthetic Synchromesh oil in my rebuilt unit, shifts really great and even when its cold it is vastly improved, My original transmission had a rattle in it that disappeared when I changed the ATF out of it put in the Amsoil. It may be OK for modern synchromesh transmissions, but it is NOT recommended for our old ones. It is too thin/light, especially for the summer months.

But I did see an 80/90 gear oil from Pennzoil that was labeled Synchromesh. On the back it mentioned meeting GM and Chrysler requirements, nothing about Ford though.
